Privacy Policy: Tabby: Multi-Account Tabs
Last updated: October 13, 2026
Tabby: Multi-Account Tabs is a Chrome extension that lets you stay logged in to several accounts on the same website at once. Each account lives in a named container, and a tab opened in a container uses only that container's login. This page explains what the extension handles to do that.
Short version: everything the extension handles stays in your own browser on your own computer. The extension makes no network requests of its own. Nothing is sent to the developer or to anyone else.
1. What data the extension collects
The extension handles the following on your device. None of it is transmitted to the developer.
- Authentication information: cookies. For a tab you have placed in a container, the extension reads the cookies the website sets (including login and session cookies) and keeps them for that container. It does this only for tabs you have placed in a container. Tabs outside a container are not touched.
- Website storage for container tabs. On a container tab, what the website saves in its local storage and session storage is kept under a prefix for that container, inside the website's own storage in your browser. The extension does not copy it anywhere else.
- The address of the page in a container tab. The extension reads the address to work out which saved cookies belong to that site. It does not keep a history of the pages you visit.
- Container names and colours. The names you type for your containers, for example "Personal" or "Mom", and the colour you pick for each.
The extension does not collect your name, email address, passwords you type, payment details, location, or browsing history.
2. How the data is used
- Cookies kept for a container are sent back only to the website that set them, and only from tabs in that container. This is what keeps you logged in to that account in that tab.
- The page address is used only to match saved cookies to the right site.
- A container's name is shown in the extension's menu and placed at the start of the tab's title, for example "Mom ยท Example Site", so you can tell your tabs apart. The container's colour is shown on the tab through a Chrome tab group. Because the name is part of the page title, the website open in that tab is technically able to read it.
The data is not used for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any purpose other than keeping your accounts separate.
3. How the data is handled and stored
- Where: container names and container cookies are kept in Chrome's extension storage on your device (chrome.storage.local). Which tab belongs to which container is kept in session storage and is cleared when the browser closes.
- How long: a cookie is kept until it expires, until you delete its container, or until you remove the extension, whichever comes first.
- Security: the data never leaves your browser. It is protected by your computer's user account and your Chrome profile in the same way as Chrome's own cookies. The extension does not add its own encryption, so anyone with access to your Chrome profile on your computer has the same access they would have to your normal Chrome logins.
- Deletion: deleting a container in the extension's menu deletes the cookies saved for it. Removing the extension from Chrome deletes the container names and all saved cookies. What a website saved in its own storage on a container tab stays in that website's storage in your browser until you clear that site's data in Chrome's settings.
4. Who the data is shared with
No one. The extension has no server and makes no network requests of its own. The developer receives nothing. No data is sold, and no data is transferred to any third party. The only place a cookie goes is back to the same website that set it, as part of your own browsing in that tab.
5. Limited use
The use of information received by this extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the single purpose of the extension, which is to keep separate logins to the same website in separate tabs. Humans do not read your data. It is not used for advertising and is not transferred to anyone.
6. Your choices
- Only tabs you place in a container are affected. You choose which tabs those are.
- You can take a tab out of its container, delete a container and its saved logins, or remove the extension at any time.
7. Children
The extension is not directed at children under 13.
8. Changes to this policy
If the extension changes what it handles, this page will be updated before the new version is released, and the date at the top will change.
